Príbeh Sorena, mladej sovy pálenej, ktorý je unesená sovami z Akadémie sv. Ególia pre osirené sovy. Akadémia by mala slúžiť ako sirotinec, no v skutočnosti je to ústav pre vymývanie mozgov mladých sov, ktoré sú potom pripravované na bitku s múdrymi a mierumilovnými sovami Ga'Hoole.
